None of your business!
My friend has a blood parrot cichlid, he had it for 7 months now. His parrot cichlid is so shy it never leaves it's cave? Not even when food is out, So my friend hand feed's it (sinking pellets). The parrot fish live's with 3 angelfish,4-5 guppies,1 firemouth and 1 convict, but, the firemouth and the convict are very nice....just wonder why, he doesn't leave his cave?? My friend's wife would watch for a while, but never come's out. He also live's in a 75 gallon tank. Please help me out...

mine stays in his pot but is not shy and very active. hmm ..?

sometimes there's just no reason . . . seems like I've always had a fish in my tanks who just doesn't want to come out and play with the others

although every type of cichlid has tendencies, there's no guarantee of any individual fish's behavior

My blood parrot lives with a Jack Dempsey and a Firemouth pair, and has lived with an Oscar in the past. The largest fish in the tank is the BP, and is one of the most aggressive in the tank.

A pleco was added for a bottom feeder, but the BP and the JD collectively attacked it so I had to remove it. The BP eats guppy feeders on occassion, having little trouble downing them at her size.

Sometimes fish have aggressive or passive personalities, it varies greatly in species. Mine has always given little wonder wether they were bred using Red Devils.

If he is eating fine, acting normally and the water params are normal then there probably isn't a problem, your friend just has an anti-social fish, haha.

I had a pair very shy like that.. I have 7 now.. 6 are not shy at all now but one is still very shy and never comes out..

I would try adding another BP and maybe that would help. But as stated before sometimes you just get a shy one and nothing helps

MY blood parrot always hides under the drift wood, just comes out when it senses food on the way.
