I heard it is really hard to get a fertile MALE parrot fish?!
somewhere around 10% for MALE being fertile...
and around 30% for FEMALE parrot fish...

Is this TRUE? or what? please correct me or give info.

The consensus is that male BP/KKP are infertile for the most part, but Male JELLY Bean Parrots are fertile??..

thanks

well kinda hard to determine exactly what they are. BP parrots, male's are like 97% sterile. however much more success with a female (don't know exactly the percent fertility). i don't know what makes the jellybeans more fertile. but even then the male jellybeans also come with a infertility rate as well.

regaurdless of fertilaty stats you will have much more luck breeding a female parrot to another male fish that will give you same look and colors...RD perhaps.

the fact that convicts are so feritle makes the jellybeans fertile

very fertile + not very fertile = fertile

come on fish math!

Have you bred a parrot with a convict cos I have and they dont look like the little short body cons you see in the lfs that everybody assumes are crossed with parrots and FYI the male offspring of my con x parrots were not fertile.

with such a fertile fish something is going to turn out fertile. and not all fish are going to turn out the same with hybrids there is such a large gene pool most dont turn out the same.

Yet those little jellybeans that are supposidly part parrot produce identical offspring, does that not tell you something?

But certain fish produce infertile male offspring and parrot x con just happens to be one of them(Red Texas are also I hear).
