i have brought a couple of parrot fish and i was wondering are they a good community fish..?? can i keep them with a schooling fish,, say neon tetras..??? and i have heard that almost all male parrot fish are infertile .. is this true..?? cant i breed them..??

Most male parrots are infertile, yes its true. Females have a higher fertility rate and as far as you mixing them with neon tetras, would be a bad idea. They can be kept with larger fish of similar size and similar aggressive traits. Like other various cichlids, arowanas, plecos, large barbs, loaches, etc. Goodluck and post some pics!

I keep severums plecos with my parrots, they grow to about the same adult size, 8-10", make sure you have a large tank. I have mine in my 125 & 150g tanks. The other tanks mates are firemouths, albino bristlenose plecos, clown knife, loaches and several featherfin catfish

If it fits in their mouth they will eat them so its not advised to keep them with small comm fish like Neon Tetras. Large flat body tetras might work though like Bleeding Hearts.

And yes male Blood Parrots are sterile so there is no chance of breeding one. They will lay eggs but they will never hatch.
