I bought this one out of a parrot tank, mainly because it looked odd and I wanted to grow it out and see what it would be. It's been a few weeks now and I'm still not sure what this fish actually might be.

It had been suggested it was a unfaded shortbody midas, but that flowerline and black spot on the top fin is throwing me off now. The flowerline has blue green spotting around it too. It has a normal mouth, and the gill plates have become more yellow like it it going to start fading soon. Then again, it might just be a parrot, my other parrot had a black spot by the tail and it faded away when she started fading. Any ideas are welcome, I'll post updates as needed.

you do know that somebody on here bred a Midas and a Redhead and they got parrots right? the mystery of how they were created is over.
all they did in asia was line breed them to be more orange like midas. so yes its a parrot, and yes it does look like both thats because essentially it is :P

regular parrots don't have dye, DYED parrots have dye.
I just moved to North America from Europe and until I came here I've never seen dyed parrots before. Most european countries have a ban on Dyed fish, can't help it if America is behind in the times.

It's not the only thing we're behind on doing...

On a separate note, does anyone know where the flowerline effect might be coming from here? I know young midas have them but they seem to fade out and don't have the green and blue - or, at least I haven't seen it.
