I have a female and male parrot who paired up and spawned a couple of times. After the second spawn my male seemed to go nuts and start going after her. It ended in a bunch of lip licks and spinning around until I finally took the female out of the tank and put her in my hospital tank. I have heard of this type of thing with larger cichlids before but has anyone had this happen with parrots? Do you think I will have to get rid of one of them or should I try to reintroduce the female later? Any other thoughts? They are in a 55 and not full grown yet. Here is a pic of the culprit.

Have a look at the tank scaping, could be worth creating more sight breaks then re-introducing her. Sorry to hear about the problems.

He should eventually stop chasing her. Maybe show her who is boss every once in awhile. But they may not be completely mature as well. That would be my guess

Well, I put the female back in last night (who is actually bigger than the male), and she quickly showed him who's boss this time. Now he is hiding in the corner and she is swimming all around the tank. Neither of them are hurt though. I guess these two just have to work out their marital problems on their own!

Good thing about parrots is the physical damage will be limited due to their mouths, of course can still cause stress. I have two BP's just now, really enjoying them :) any more pics of your set-up?

I myself just introduced another parrot which looks like a KKP but he is a lot smaller then my current one. The bigger on does chase sometimes but after a couple days they are ok.
