Parrots- breeders/suppliers????

okay, I have had in the past, blood parrots, purple parrots, yellow parrots, and marbled parrots. None of these were dyed in any way. I can't seem to find ANYTHING like that now- where do i get them? I loved my marble-and my yellow- how do I find this type of fish these days? I HATE dyed fish. I really don't care for the "jelly bean" parrots.

And just for the record: my personal argument: I also am an aviculuralist. When you start talking about hybrids in birds, I m 100% against. It has to do with the salvage of the "pure" or "real" genes of these creatures. BUT with fish, I feel different. Often too get beautiful fish for our tanks, someone goes out into the river and drugs or nets or whatever they do to capture our fish. Many species are being over harvested. So, someone comes up with a beautiful, engaging hybrid. To get this fish, no river is despoiled, no species is destroyed, and we all have a bright, active, personality rich fish on our tank. I have no problem with that.

most people forget or don't care that almost all angels discus and livebearers are hybrids as well as alot of africans

but to answer your question i see parrots here that are marbled or anywhere from white, yellow, orange, to dark red. evn saw one that is browm and black stripe almost like a severum but i agree i hate dyed fish

I agree totally with your hybrid statement Starrfish71, I have argued that point on many other forums alot of people just hate hybrids go figure! Also I just saw some awesome looking blood parrots just the other day at my local fish store $15.00 each or 3 for $35.00. Do you like flowerhorns cause I have fry for sale??

I hate to say it but if you have a purple or yellow parrot, it's dyed. Dying has been around for ages so having had them in the past doesn't mean they weren't dyed.

If the parrots are the actual purple parrots, which are really red in color they are not dyed, but if they are purple then they are dyed. I have seen yellow parrots that were not dyed just a color morph and I have seen the dyed ones to.

Yep, only purple parrots that are red and the orange ones are real. All the other colors are dyed parrots.
But i love the parrots... especially the purples that become red.

Okay, I understand the difference btw dyed fish and not-dyed fish. Mine WERE NOT dyed. I had them for YEARS and their color was their ACTUAL color. I had a Purple, which could be defined as a "dark red" , I had a the "blood" which is the "orangey red", I had a marble, which was orangely- red with black markings and a few white spots, and I had a yellow, which was a bright lemon yellow. ( thank you Dan1)
If you consider where these fish originated, (severums and midas) it's not so hard to beleive these are their "natural" color morphs.
