I adopted this couple from a friend who was moving out of town, Ive had them for 2 months and the female laid eggs today. How long do i let them stay with the eggs, how do i remove the eggs? (if they need to be removed), Water changes?

Any additional info would be appreciated!!

Sorry for the picture quality, will uploads better ones when the camera is charged.

Interesting that they (the eggs) are orange, how long ago were they laid?

Most parrot pairs eggs turn white and fungus over after a few days. I have witnesed this myself a few times unfortunately. Unfortunately males are infertile. so the only way I have ever seen parrots produce offspring is with a female parrot and a male cichlid of another species (central American)

There are always rumors out there of male parrots being fertile but I don`t recall seeing any evidence on here, I guess theoretically ones with a lot of amphilophus blood could stand a good chance of being more fertile.
Your pair look really nice and colorful, you can tell when they are about to lay because they will turn more pink than orange, after spawning they will go back to their more orange coloration.

Just leave them with the eggs, if they actually hatch keep us updated as it will be the first time I personally have seen evidence of a pair of parrots creating fry. If you do actually get babies you can let the parents rear them or alternatively suck them out with a siphon, put them in a little 10g with a sponge filter and feed them crushed up food pellets / crushed up flake, or other fry foods. I like to just take a big pellet of hikari gold, waterlog it and then smoosh it up, it falls to the bottom and the fry will eat it all.

Good luck and I hope they hatch!

Thx mate, the eggs been there a couple of days now but the female has started to eat the eggs now. Only half of them remain now. They haven't turned white but haven't turned black/darker either. So I'm confused.

Do i remove the eggs frm the parents since they are eating them?

If it dosn't work out this time don't worry there will be more spawns. I'm really interested to see if they are fertile though

There were hardly any white eggs, they turned brown but within hours they ate the remaining eggs.

The male started beating the female again so put a barrier in again.
