Just went to do a 40% water change on my 180 gallon tank. all was going well until i went to top it back up with water. what i found was that our local water supplier has for some reason shocked the system with chlorine.

I have not completed the filling process and I have turned the filters on the help remove this. What other options do I have?

Over treat the water with Prime. Be sure to condition the water prior to filling the tank.

x2 . . . Prime can be used at 2-5x normal strength in critical situations like this . . .

turning the filters on was a mistake, they dont remove chlorine, you are killing all your bio...

get some dechlornitor hurry try aquasafe it gets rid of heavy metals and chlorine

Yes get the prime going. A small bottle will go a long way. Chlorine will dissapate in 24 hrs but chloramine will not. So go with the prime!

keep an eye on your water's parameters extra closely after this, just in case your beneficial bacteria population has taken a hit
