I really love the FB and the FC 1st and 2nd gen RX7s. I prefer them to the FD.

I'm just wondering though, if anyone has experience with these cars, could I have a rough idea of how much parts and repairs would cost compared to a normal commonly available car?

Cheers.

what needs to be done? what year car

NOthing Rayman :D

I don't have one yet, I'm just enquiring. The FB's and FC's are late 80's.

I'm just wondering IF something does go wrong and needs reparing/replacing, how extortionate it's likely to be :)

Its not as bad as a lot of people think. keep up on routine maintenance and all should be well. The normal parts like brakes and filters are no more than "normal" cars. You can get some money wrapped up if you have to start replacing rotors, but that should never happen.
If you have ever rebuilt a piston engine the rotaries are cake. 3 main moving parts.....thats basically all you have to worry about.
A really common problem that is over looked a lot is carbon lock. It happens when carbon wedges between the apex seal and the housing.....A lot of people that that the engine is toast when that happens but its nothing a little transmission fluid cant solve:)
I've had some experience with the FC's so if you have any specific questions let me know.

rallys, thanks man - that was the answer I was looking for ;)

I'm gonna wait until I move country, because there isn't much around these parts. The nearest RX7 is miles and miles away, and no hachi rokus, no supras, celicas, mr2's, nothing really. Just boyed up little peugoets.

BTW rallys - do you have exp. working on RX7s or driving them too? Do you like the car? Fun to drive?

Out of any Japanese coupés you've driven - what would oyu recommend?

Cheers.

The FC's are a lot of fun to drive. handle like go carts and are fairly well built. They lack bottom end power but if you keep the revs up this isnt a problem. If you have a bad back this car is not for you, they have a horrible ride.

as far as other japanese coupes, I love the 300zx tt, FD rx7, and a 240sx with a sr20det engine swap is a metricfu_k ton of fun as well, but you should be able to find a silvia that would basically be the same thing ( better car overall though)

Even though they have four doors, EVOs and STIs are worth a drive. Tons of fun.
