Past experiences? Mainly BGK/TT eels

How was your past experiances with your fishes? Did they die before full growth or did they die because of something else before full growth? Mainly BGK/TT eels but post whatever.

i had a gold gourami and a red tail shark reach 7" which is more then the reported max size. they live for about 7-8 years before we had moved and had to get rid of them. since, my dad was boss of the tank he would not allow an upgrade for these two fish. they were in a heavily planted and rock worked 26 gallon bow front tank with a rope fish. my dad would not even allow me to take the fish when we moved even though i was the only one who cared for them. both fish were out going and eat mostly bloodworms.
