I'm currently working on a patio pond project. The pond will be filtered by a modified internal aquarium filter, heated, lighted and of course planted. It will be roughly 15g with no cover on top

I have it pretty much figured out except stocking. My go-to was guppies but i wonder if i could keep a betta sorority in there.

Do you reckon a betta sorority patio pond feasible?

Since Mauritius is around the same latitude as Thailand (where bettas come from) i wouldn't worry much about a heater, (unless you are in a cool mountain area) but I'd be more concerned about the tub overheating.
A sorority may very well work nicely though, and the Bettas would be good at mosquito control.
I have my tank outside (here in Panama) and don't use heaters (8'S. latitude), I use a fairly strong flow to help keep temp level.

We are further south than Thailand and it can get chill here on winter nights (sometimes 15 degrees celcius) thus the heater idea. Maybe switching it off during summertime?

Here's a little update on the patio pond project. Got some horsetail and some papyrus. Fountain head is powered by a boyu internal filter (complete with sponge and ceramic rings. Stocking right now is 6 mollies.

Total cost of the project: approx $100
