My fiddler crab used to do that, until one day he disappeared. Found him two months later dead and all dried out under the couch.

Do you have anywhere for it to bask inside of the tank?..I'm not sure but I think they are semi aquatic.

Sorry about that :/ but thats a semi-aquatic crab that cant live under water completely so thats why it was getting out of the tank, if you decide to get another one you would either need to close all wholes in the tank and set up a little island he can go on outside of the tank, or lower the water line and have something he can sit on. You could try a panther crab, i believe theyre fully aquatic.

Thanks for the advise guys...its funny how the lfs will sell you anything and give you a bunch of bs...i put a crawfish in there instead, he never tries to get out. He just chills in the the floating plants sometimes. Its actually pretty funny.
