Hey guys, my buddy just sent me some pics of these payara at the lfs. The pics aren't amazing, but I'm having a tough time figuring out if they are armatus or tats. Let me know what you think.

yeah, look like a tat covering heavy with ick (white spot). Tell him if the tail color match with the tiny upper fin near the tail then it's 100% tat. Artmatus that tiny thing will be orange and the tail is mostly black.

Looks like armatus to me need to see tail better
 
It may be the pic, but I don't see any red in the tail fin. He also looks relatively young and I don't see any of the "spots" I usually notice on young Army's. I'm leaning towards Scomb, but I've been out of the ID'ing game for a while.

Definitly not scomb, can see those from a mile away lol

What spots are you talking about though? I haven't heard of this as much as I've researched them..
