I bought a sabre tooth barracuda from Joe at tfd but I dont know which specie he is. He is silver with a black mark at his gills with a red tinted tail and is freaking awesome to watch eat. also he came in with white spots on both eyes looks like cadaracs what are they. They seem to be shrinking but if they were supposed to be there it would make the already psyco apperance all the more ominous.

with the redtail its most likely a tatauaia AKA redtail payara. the most common reason for the cloudy eyes are poor water. if it was shipped it could have been from being in the bag too long. keep good water parameters with small water changes every day and it will clear up. another reason for cloudy eyes is a bacterial infection or parasite. ive also had a redtail payara w cateracts from poor water conditions for a very long period of time. good luck. post a pic for a positive ID. it could also be a scomb.

tats arent very rare but they are very hardy, grow slow, but will get very big with lots of room and food. definatly the payara to get. (other then the rare and expensive armatus) now i saw u said barracuda, that is a diff fish!

I noticed that if you have any driftwood or large rocks in your tank, they can scratch their eyes. That is also a cause for them to turn white.

Could be either or.....they can't tell the difference.

on one of his threads w/ pics, he said redtail sabretooth 6-7", and silvertail 3-4". Plus, i ordered both sizes from him and the large size were all tats and the small ones were all scombs. on his pricelist, its just sabretooth though.
