Hi fellow monsta keepaz!

Looking to get some info on my payara. I am stationed in Okinawa so i get my hands on all kinds of exotics :) I picked this guy up for 6800yen at one of the local stores. He's a pretty cool dude, just getting used to his new environment. For conversations sake, I call him jack (the knife).

So! i need to get this guy ID'd, i read a couple previous threads, but every fish is different u know? I'm thinking he's an armatus...hes a young one, i cant speak japanese so i dunno how old he is either. here is a couple pictures of jack. if you need more i can get them just tell me what u need

I am also having a difficult time getting him to eat. I'm pretty sure he gets angry with the shrimp, kills them, and leaves them for no reason. I dont mind, i just want him to eat the damn things. No luck w/ bloodworms, and he's got a lil gold minnow in his tank right now. I dont think he likes to hunt them cuz theyre a top swimmer, but even when they decide to swim around, he lets them go right in front of his mouth...no dice still. sooo ima get frozen shrimp and maybe something else if they have it on the island. All advice is welcome, thanks for your time!

hes a scomb.
youre lucky to be in japan, all kinds of cool fish.

scombs are very sensetive fish, with training you can get him onto dead foods like smelt and shrimp.
he will eat the feeders when he feels like it.
not good with aggressive tankmates or faster growing tankmates.
get to 12" but take really really long to get there.

I disagree, the pictures from the scombs and this one are nothing alike, in shape or coloration. Next opinion?

100% sure Scomb...
Do a google search on them... only 4 types of Payara...
or do a MFK (Monster Fish Keepers) search and just type in Scomb

Scomb
Red Tail
Yellow Tail (just a diff vari. of Red Tail)
Armatus

Sorry... no other option. They are a cool fish to keep in a community tank.

it just looks armartus too me idk why
