anyone have a payara who constantly rubs his face on the glass? mine does it all the time . those 2 holes in the upper part of his jaw where his bottom teeth are suppose to go.. they dont even come close to lining up anymore.. one sticks way out and has worn a groove up the side of his face and the other one has broke off twice..

Mine occasionally does the same and gets sores in the exact same spot. I think mine does it when it gets spooked and darts around the tank. I just add salt to the water so it doesn't get infected and it usually heals pretty quickly. I would try to remove any stimulant that might be spooking and see if it stops.

hes in a 55 by himself with about 2 or 3 feeders at a time. i leave one light on and one light off execpt for night and both go off. no traffic by his tank either.. not sure why hes doing it.. i do have salt in tank.. hes about 8 inches so hopefully it wont hurt his growth.. oh well

:iagree: Although they can be pretty spooky. If you keep it in a bare tank, maybe adding plants, wood etc. to break up lines of sight would keep it away from rubbing the walls.
