Hi there! I am new to monster fish keeping so any advice would be appreciated. I was wondering if a tank with dimensions 10x4x4 (feet) would be big enough for a payara? I’ve done research on this but opinions vary greatly. I also understand this is a difficult fish to keep and I will be investing in the appropriate equipment if my tank is big enough.

You do know I’ve kept over 30 Armatus and gotten a few close to 30” :P... as for Captain_Kiwi Captain_Kiwi , I’ve never had a tank close to that size and mine seem fine. They are pretty hard fish, they don’t do well with dramatic temperature change, they require plenty of flow and oxygen, pretty easy to get off live, I’ve fed pellets but they tend to break their teeth when they eat the pellets

Um...Do the teeth...grow back? If they break their teeth then why would you feed pellets.

Uhhh I didn’t feed pellets after it happened.....? And why wouldn’t I feed pellets tell me how else am I gonna get a well rounded diet? I still stuff anything else I feed them with pellets, matter fact all my fish eats pellets, teeth break and they grow back

I’d be careful with your wording, when you say they require flow. I don’t think it’s necessary. But your experience beats me recalling things I’ve read ;)

You said you didn't feed pellets after it happened and you said you have to feed pellets? Could you clarify that?
