hey guys just how fast do these things grow..? TAT, Armatus etc...
and possible tankmates other than the pbass?

Scombs are the slowest growers and ultimately the smallest.
The tat I had was pretty slow growing as well. It grew maybe .5" a month.
My armatus has grown from 4.5 to about 6" in three weeks! FAST growers.
Ive never had scombs, but from what Ive read tankmates need to be peacful as they are a skittish fish and can be nervous around boistrous tankmates. My tat could take just about anything. I would suggest you throw one in with a Dovii, but my tat took, as well, as dished agression pretty good.
I havnt had the armatus long, but so far he seems to be more territorial then the tat. For example, my tat would chase away a fish that was bothering him first. The armatus will chase away any fish that gets in his territory regardless if the fish is acting agressive towards him.

My Scombs actually grew faster than my Tats. Died for no known reason at around 6 inches. Armatus.....wow. Have to see it to believe it. Got mine @ a lil under 3 inches.....well over doubled in 2 months.
Tankmates.....I had mixxed results with different fish....a lot of fish got moved due to the fact that if the other fish are aggressive at feeding time then the payara wouldn't eat, or I was throwing a stupid amount of food in just to get a lil to the payara. Pbass....no way....mine got moved after the 1st feeding. Armatus are a different story.
Conditions.....mine are in a ph of almost 8. I have lots of current in the tank......not that they need it, just to speed up metabolism......they're in a 125. (3) AQ 110s (1) Fluval 405 and almost 800gph worth of powerheads.
