I have 4 pbass at 5 inches and a silver Aro at 8 inches. I put the Aro in the 250 g. with the 4 pbass, next day the aro had damage to one of his scales that looked bad. Day 2, the aro had what looked like a bite at the top of his head. Day 3. The aro had frayed fins and his tale was covered in a white substance and would not eat. Day 3 1/3 Aro was taken out of tank and put in another by himself. I thought that combo would work but in my case it was disasterous.

I got 3 Pbass and an Aro right now and they seem to be fine...but then again...they're all still pretty young.

Aros at that size are too thin and will appear as easy targets to pbass. Was the aro a new comer? That'll make it worse too.

My temensis used to hit on the jardini (the jar pretty much ignored him) that was similarly sized. When the aros get thick, cichlas won't dare touch them.

it doesnt always work

i alway get that feeling when someone says its going to work and oops here i am replying to a thread like this.

its alway risky mixing predators together like aros, pbass,CK, etc etc. no matter how many times its been successful done.

sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, its all trial and error.

Well I am glad I took everyones advice when I added the Aro, yes he was a new commer to the tank. I watche dall behavior closely. Well hope things continue to work out for the others that have this combo. Now I have to buy another large tank to house the Aro. I will try to thicken him up before another move. I think I will try him with the Garrrrr of similar size.

I know the gar was not beating him up because they would swim together side by side like they were watching each others back.

I had an Aro kill my 14" P Bass, constantly bullying him. I wouldn't do it again, I lost a prize fish.
