So i am feeding my bass with krill and the tell tail Whoossshh of the big mono comes and things settle down. Ouch! The big boy shredding his forehead on the tank brace, apparently the water level was too high for his shananagins.

He now has a couple flesh hairs dangling from his forehead and a good wound. The funny part was him trying to head shake the string of flesh off, like get this hair out of my eyes.....

So moral of the story, if dont want your 15 inch bass to tear its face up keep you water level at least an inch below any crossmembers or lids on your tank. Because I told him at least 4 times not to hit his head and he keeps doing it, so much like kids bass don't listen.

Hahahahaaaaaa.... stuborn creature.

Fish are not the smartest creatures around. They can learn certain things but mostly rely on instinct. Lowering the water level will probably only work on tanks that don't have a built in overflow box. I suppose you could deepen the slots on the box in order to run a lower water level, but that's a lot of work.

Ive had this happen a few times as well. This Tenecor has holes but in the top with removable lids, and sometimes when thye smash something they catch their head on the edge right between the eyes. I try to keep the food centered in the hole so they dont do that too much.

Boy did he take a chunk out. He seems fine though, I am thinking permanent scar, but I am sure it will help get some Bass chicks, Chicks like scars.

So the only this motivated me to do is buy a kelberi today, cause I need another one of these ying yangs.
