Probably would get better results for this in the Crenicichla forum.... I'll leave it in here though and just leave my .03
Yesh, they should get along alright as long as neither of the two species are small enough to get eaten. Crenicichla sp. 'venezuela' is one of the larger growing pikes, with reports of them being 24" in the wild, although the largest ever reported in captivity was 18". Still a pretty big pike.
Crenicichla can be aggressive, but so can pbass. In all reality, they are no more aggressive than most other SA/CA cichlids. It can work indeed. Introducing both of the fish close to the same size will definitely help.
Many members here keep their Crenies with their Pea's....so you should be alright. I've kept my Crenies with everything from Satanoperca to Red Terrors to Pea's. You will definitely want to stay with the Lugubris family though, as they are the larger, more robust pikes.
