So i picked up a couple PBass over the weekend and I want to pellet train them. The problem that i have is that the tank already had a breeding colony of minnows in it. As soon as I added the PBass they were all over the baby minnows and fattened their stomachs up nicely. There are minnows in there that have not been eaten because they seem a little too big for the PBass. Should I try to pellet train now or would that be of no use since there are still minnows in the tank?

No use. And if the minnows in there now seem too big, the bass will try to eat and possibly choke on them. So remove amy minnow and try pellet train after.

How large are the bass? The most important thing with small bass, say 3" and under is keeping them well fed. They go through amazing amounts of food and starting to pellet train them too soon can cause them to starve. you can try to start with some pellets, but when they are small, a lot of the time it is easiest to start with frozen blood worms and beef heart. Once they are eating and putting on some size, it is then easier to convert them to pellets.

They are only about 1.5 inches at the moment. They took care of all the baby minnows that were in there but i will take out the bigger ones today. How do you cut the beef heart, just to the size of a small pellet? I will try to get some frozen blood worms as well.

Just do frozen blood worms, crush up some NLS pellets and mix it in with the thawed BW. Dont use beef heart.

Frozen Blood Worms all the way. Never had a young bass refuse those. Like sevank said mix it with some pellets and its 100%.,

awesome thanks guys! How often or how much should i be feeding these frozen bloodworms to them?

the only pellets i have right now are hikari cichlid gold. I am guessing this should work fine as well? thanks for all the tips guys
