how long till i can expect my p-bass to be a more fun 4-6in size?

i'd say probably a month

depending on the species of pbass, the temp of the water and how often you feed them.. next month.. march at the outside.. June if they are orinos..

i change the water weekly, sometimes sooner. got em from marineland in milwaukee like 3 weeks ago. and yes ive been feeding them rosies, and they're going in to a 210 in a month or 2. dont know the species. i will put up a pic asap but its in my avatar too

whats your temp at? When you do wc's....how much water do you empty?

If it were me...id have my water at 87. Id do atleast 50% wc's weekly or 2x weekly. I would have a large airstone in w/ them to keep the water oxygenated. And I would start feeding them non-live food. Id switch to frzn blood/brine shrimp. Get em used to that and then start adding crushed pellets to the mix...and then slowly adding more pellets as they get used to it. Then eventually....just pellets.

when cichla are very young, they are very delicate. the best temp for them is 86 degrees F. if you can, keep them in the smaller tank till the spring, it'll be easier to keep warm. add an air stone, 50% water changes each week are great, but should not be done all at once, spread it out, do 25% twice a week or even 3 times a week.

and the sooner you get them on killed food and pellets (if you choose) the better. at 3" it is very easy to switch them to frozen bloodworms, mysis shrimp and frozen krill. create a current in your tank with a powerhead or the filter outlet. thaw the food in a glass of tank water. then release the food in the stream of the powerhead. the little cichla will give chase and eat em all.

quit feeding goldfish now.. get them on the frozen food. do the same thing with pellets, sooner rather than later. i don't like the idea of fish kibble, and i resisted it for many years. but i found that i just couldn't keep up and feed cichla the volumn of food that they need without them.

^^^ x2

My mono grew approx 1" to an 1.5" per month from 3" to just over a foot in 7 months. I kept the tank warm 85 degrees, got them on pellets right away and fed them 4 - 5 times a day. Mixed in frozen food and fat head minnows every once in a while. The trick is to get them on pellets so it is easier to feed them multiple times a day. A varied diet works the best I have found. 25% Water changes 2-3 times a week.
