So I have a 37 gallon and I'm going to get one Pbass to grow out in it and I'm still unsure of what else I should get to be his homeboy?

I was considering of growing out a bichir of a similar size, would that be acceptable? The PBass and Bichir would be about 2'' once I got them.

Thanks, Nick

I have a 3.5" Pbass and a 2.5" bircher in a 75g. I almost always have feeders in the tank(40 once a week) and the bass still trys to eat the bircher. He's mental. : / lol. Try two Pbass or get him some Mollys or other similar sized livebearers. I read on a website that they get along well and the bass are less shy when they're together. Andrew

i wouldnt put anuthing smaller than the bass in with him..they grow fast, and have huge mouths

where do you plan on housiong the bass once he's too big for the 37 and so on?

Your Peacock isnt mental at all. Your bichir just happens to look similar to a worm...something the bass would encounter in the wild. Imagine hanging a piece off fake meat in front of a lion..."looks the same...maybe I'll just taste it." Where did you read they do well with livebearers? Look...these fish get big and they grow in spurts. You may not notice the growth for a few weeks or a month and then BAM..within a week or two you'll see it. Pbass arent shy...they just havent hit the "teen" phase. It just depends on the fish. I had one eating only agae-waffers. I had another that only ate something that would bleed. Now I have mine trained from the moment I get them to be straight killers. Keep it with a few of them or something with more of an attitude.

You are right about my bass being not mental. But sometimes he is. He actually chases his tail! The bircher thing is right about what you said. Good call. The website about similar size live bearers is http://www.aqualandpetsplus.com/ Alot of good fish info. Not only bass but other fish as well.

If you're upgrading to something at least 75g+(bigger later) within 4 months or so then go ahead and grow one out. But for friends at that point I'd just get another two and keep it easy.

If you're just growing one out, you'll only get about 6 months out of them before needing to give him back.
