Most LFS in my area sell monocs and pretty cheap nowadays, I'd imagine sydney would be the same? Tems not as common and more $$$.
nah ive looked in the top 12 sydney lfs's known for exotic's and not even a peep of anything interesting just a couple of silver aro's and flag tails....

Right now pbass aren't breeding, so any you do get are most likely going to be 20cm roughly. You just need to ask around on forums and stuff. Join PlecoFanatics, the site I linked you too, and put up a thread asking for them. Guarenteed you will get some biters.
there are a few going around in perth atm, one of my mates has around 30, what we assume monos at the 15cm ish mark i can ask if he is willing to get rid of some and ship them over but i dont know how keen he will be tho
