Well my first peacock bass didn't turn out to well as he recently passed. I have spent some time thinking about him and have decided I want to try keeping pbass once more. I am having a hard time trying to find peacock bass at a reasonable price here. A 7-8" mono is $100 a piece and this is basically my only option. I would like to growout a few, maybe 2-3 monos or ocells and am already starting preparations by aquarantining a first batch of rosy reds. I would like to try growing them out this time to hopefully get them used to living in a certain surrounding at a young age. I would also like to make sure I am getting farm raised ones as my tap water ph is about 7.6-7.8 here. I don't have the resources to attain an RO machine or to get RO water as my parents still struggle to understand why I care so much about fish. (I'm sure you guys are all in similar situations.) But since I am 17 the parents do have control over my resources. So this leads me to the question, if anyone knows of a vendor or a person or something anywhere that will ship to Canada, because I have endlessly been checking and can't seem to find anything reasonable. Even though I only had the one pbass he was the most interesting fish i've had and I can't just leave my experience with peacock bass at that. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there. I have a few tips for you,
1. You can greatly improve your ph by adding some big pieces of driftwood to your tank. My tap water is ph7 but the drift wood drops it to ph6.
2. It is vitally important to keep your temp at a minimum of 86
3. You don't have to give them feeders I've raised some from 2" to 5" on bloodworm and shrimp.
4. I'm not sure where you can get them in canada but jeff raps has some wild monos on 'tangled up in cichlids'.

I'm in Edmonton AB, I think I could get larger driftwood at Big Als here but no one ever carries smaller or reasonably priced peacock bass. I work at a place with RO water for like 99cents per 5 gallons so I guess I could sneak some in and store it in the crawl space they just seem to dislike it when I use their storage space.
