Hey i upgraded my 46 gallon to a 65 gallon. The tank has 2 dual fluval 406. When i was setting up the tank i had my pbass in a 20 gallon tank (originally for plecos). The 65 gallon is not cycled will he survive the cycle? How can i help him get through it? I cant put him back in the 20 gallon he is just to big and hurts himself hitting the glass. What do i do?

If I was you I would've transferred the water from the 46 to the 65 as well as ornaments, substrate and filter. Than you would've had a decently established tank to temporarily house the bass in. Also you haven't said how big the Pbass is or whether you plan to upgrade again as the 65 is still too small to house the bass long term. From what I've heard(haven't kept a Pbass personally) they grow at an exceptional rate and will probably outgrow the 65 in less than a year. You've put yourself in a bad position and my best advice is to keep the bass in the 20 as I think during cycling your more likely to lose him. As well as try to be better prepared for a fish you want to keep before hand as it saves you and the fish unnecessary stress.

If you took the filters and kept them wet and just put them on the new tank, you should be ok.

^^ are the filters off the old tank? if so whats was the time frame they were turned off and how were they cleaned etc..... another thing u can do is buy some Seachem Stability to help cycle the tank and add a pinch of salt to help with stress etc

Okay thanks guys! the bass is around 6.5 inches long. The dual fluval 406 and new not from other tank. The filters on the other tanks was a HOB and my new tank is does not have any room on the back to place it. I am using crushed coral as substrate (new) so that will help with the rise in ph.

I really dont want to put him back in the 20 gallon because he keeps cutting his chin on the glass. Hits the glass really hard.
