I have got a 3" Temensis bass and was wondering what the maximum size is:)
I know they grow large but not how large:nilly:

Please help!!!

Cichla temensis, Peacock bass (Speckled, 3-Stripe), is the largest of all cichlids. Its large, carnivorus diet allows it to grow up to 36 inches and weight well over 20lbs. It is a prized game fish and lives in the Amazon. It is a popular aquarium fish with many different specis. The aquarium fish breed is the Cichla temensis. Also like The Astronotus ocellatus aka the "oscar fish" it will eat anything that fits in its mouth.

Ok but what is the growth rate (per month)?

my Monos are eight inches long, I got them the second week in January '08 at 1.5 inches. People say 1 to 2 inches per month, mine have done 2 inches per month easy.

They grow very fast when young, especially given good filtration, agressive water changes, and the 87* F they like. I had one of my first three die and by the time my LFS got them back in, they were too small to go in my growout tank with my current monos.

In two to three months they will need to be moved out of your grow out tank (and may have eaten some of their tank mates)

Post pics of the newguy!!!

click on my video here, these were the bass I bought at 1.5 inches, look at the date I uploaded this video almost exactly 2 months growth rate in this video...

I willpost pics soon, my camera is broken.
Ok but he is alone in the tank, 85 f. 2x eiheim filters.
How are senegalus for tankmates? (when the bass is small)
