Sunday when I was doing my weekly wc I noticed the eyes on my Pbass were a lil cloudy. Monday I medicated with Pimafix and melfix. Thought I saw some improvement on Wed., but today they all have a white fungus like covering over their eyes. How do I save them?

A few of the fish my 180g got this. I believe it is from high nitrates.. I do water changes very often, but my sump needs to be cleaned... and re-done... bad.. So even if I do tons of water changes, my nitrates stay high... Anyhow.. I did 75% or so per day for a few days... Then I started treating with maracyn 2. It went away, but I lost a fahaka... And one of my wide bars lost vision in one eye.

Maybe it's just the pics, but your tank looks a little cloudy. That may be from high nitrates. Also, it may be a burn from the heater, or a scrap from something rough in the tank or a net if you recently netted him.

deff high nitrates.. any type of fungus on a fish is usually relates to high nitrates.. do a 50 or 75 percent water change like Danh said.. or clean your sump first... bio balls are usually a nitrate factory, and sponges.... do an addition 20 percent everyday and test your nitrates and ammonia ...good luckk you have beautiful cichla... where are they from?

I did a 50% wc Sunday. The water didnt cloud up until i added the meds. I assumed that is what caused it. I didnt want to change it until i completed the 7 days of mela/pima fix. I can always change and start over if necessary.

Ok I'll clean all the filters and do a waterchange check the water params then restart the mela/pimafix.

Thanks the Cichla are from a LFS I have no idea where they come from other than that.

just try not to do water changes and clean filters the same day..and use tank water to clean your filter .. i am sure you already know...
and you some super gnarley monos

I too would up the water changes and start there.. they should clear up in no time though..

Should I stop the pima/melafix and just go with the waterchanges.
