I am new to this forum and have been asking a lot of questions on a few different topics. The basics are I am not new to the hobby, just to the size tank that we are going to have. My largest up to this point was a 90g. The new tank will be about 4Hx4Lx3W. My question is how many bass is a good number in this tank? I know the 1in rule, but I am not looking to fit the maximum number of fish. This is a decorative tank that I want to be balanced. I love the looks and habits of the bass and would like a few other tank mates. I do have a RTC that maybe in the tank for awhile before moving on to bigger and better things for him. Let me know your opinions. A few other species I would like to try or am curious about coexisting with the bass would be Dats,Jaguar cichlid, and something in the SD family like a Emperor blue, Would any of these work? SHould I be looking at other species that occupy a different level in the tank due to the tanks height? Thank you in advance for all the help.

Dats for sure will work and u'd say personally more is best but that tank dementions are odd so I'd say probly 3 max

that RTC would make me nervous depending on the size...
dats and bass are a pretty common mix to see in the hobby.
If you end up not putting the RTC in, you could venture into the realm of bichirs, they make for a great tank IMO.
