allright guys i tried everything i've read with no success. my pbass that was on market shrimp only for almost two weeks, has now refused anything other than live quarantineed rosies. i starved him as long as i felt comfortable with, but he still refused shrimp, krill, and worms. any ideas? also what do you think about this? i live near a lot of streams and lakes. if i set minnow traps. do i need to be as worried about parasites, and disease feeding live bluegills and other native minnows, as store bought rosies and goldfish? do they still need to be treated and quarantineed? any input would help.

My larger mono went through a phase where he refused shrimp, to the point where he would eat it and spit it back out. Have you tried tilapia?
As for the minnows, why run the risk, if you have a tank to quarantine them, then do it.
Good luck

How big are old pbass? If they were being feed live fish for a long period of time its all most impossible to get them off! And it really would not be a good idea to take any living things from a lake, pond, river, whatever and put it in your tank!

I'm going through the same thing with mine and its soooooooooooo frustrating..... LOL but ya don't feed them live anything without going into the QT tank first and thats from experience lost a beautiful RTC that way i was a dumb*** but goodluck with it and if you have any luck let me know and i'll do the same....

i tried silversides tonight. he hit one, spit it out. hit the second one and spit it out. the third one he hit swallowed, swam around for fifteen minutes with its tail hanging out of his mouth. then spit it out. wtf? thank god i have a marbled pim to clean up the mess. any ideas?

When I was converting my school of bass to eat frozen foods, I 1st went and go some gold fish put them in a sandwich bag with a little water them I froze them. I didn't feed for a few days but when I did I thawed out some of the gold fish that I froze threw them in and they ate them. After a few weeks I started thawing out smelt with the gold fish and now almost 7 months later they eat smelt and freeze dried or f/t shrimp/krill. It worked for me! I also like putting oscars with my pbass because they are pigs and eat anything the pbass see this and get courious.

If hes hitting them, youre doing good. Keep offering them. Theres a sticky at the top for converting off of live food written by a guy that really knew his stuff when it came to cichla. Check it out.
