Pbass questions

ok so im considering picking up a itty bitty pbass from my lfs, theyre labed as Cichla ocellaris ,there $3.99 and there like 1-2 inches but u never know right......

so heres the deal........ i only have a 29 gal right now but this november im getting a bigger tank, much bigger, 195 gallons. so my question is how fast do pbass grow, would it outgrow my tank before im ready to upgrade or grow large enuff to be a threat to my existing fish...?

he would go in with my 6-7 inch ornate, 4-5 inch redtailed shark, 6inch rapheal catfish, 6 inch L-200, and a 4 inch african b-fly, would there be ne conflicts between theses guys?

i just love how cute they look and am having chiclid withdrawls having not had ne for like 5 years..........
 
Pbass grow out about 1" a month and he wouldent have a problem with the outher fish
 
Noww.. aho. isn't peackok bass are fish eaters only? I have seen my school of baby peackoks eat goldfish there own size plenty of times before. And yes the do get only an inch a month that is only if you feed them every day, with highly clean water. so in six months you redtail shark is on it's possible list of food items.
 
There is a very good chance(99%) that your ornate will eat those pbass overnight, that is going to be the biggest problem. My two that I got at that size have doubled in 4 weeks, they are quick growers.
 
For now you have to worry about your pbass geting eatin by the bichir. In a few months you have to worry about the pbass eating the red tailed shark and butterfly fish!
 
i have 4 pdass in a 90g that will eventually go into a pond to grow out, but watch out because the bichirs WILL try and eat the small pbass at night and if they make it the pbass might try to eat everything else.:popcorn:
 
i dont think the bichir will be able to eat it, (and to be honest he isnt really all that predatory nemore, just yeaterday a neon scared the poop out of him:irked:) , it just wont work, the bichir is a skinny 6 inches, and has issues downing a small hunk of shrimp, bout fingernail size.
so if Pbass grow about an inch a month, hell be about 5 inches from his starting 2 or 3.when i get the new tank. arnt they just predaroty not aggressive? he wont be big enuff in my opinion to veiw 4 inch fish as food. correct me if im wrong. i think ill get him tomarow and hope fpr the best, worse that happens he hets eaten right???
