Over the past month or so my Pbass' health has been slowly deteriorating. I've checked the water perams a million times, and there are no visibile signs of illness or parasites. He is about 15-16 inches, and is in a 220 with a 15" florida gar and they have always gotten along, no problems there. I have fed live rosies mixed with other random live treats since I got him. I know this isn't ideal, but he simply will not take anything that doesn't try to swim out of his mouth. Over the last few weeks his feeding has slowed to the point where I'm beginning to question if he's eating at all anymore, and now he seems to be losing scales. He has also just been acting weird, doesn't brighten his color as much for me anymore, lethargic, little interest in food, etc. I'm not sure how else to describe it, but I raised him from 2" and can just tell somethings up. Please if anybody can help with any suggestions I would really appreciate it! I would hate myself if I lost this guy, he's been a loved member of the family for years.

Update, I was watching the bass (Sly) today and while he was swimming around I noticed he seems to have some sort of abscess on his left side (He always has that side hidden when he's in his "spot") I'm going to try to upload a photo but its difficult to make out because of his pattern, but it's above where his stomach would be, just below his lateral line, and sticks out about 1/2" from the rest of his abdomen. Since noticing this I have moved him to quarantine and began treatment with antibiotics and salt. I have been looking all over and still cannot find anything fitting these symptoms. If anyone has ANY ideas of what this might be PLEASE let me know!

So is he eating or not?
If he is, starve him for a week.
Water change every other day, about 20%.
Treat tank with salt. 1tbsp to five gallons of water.
Treat tank with Prazipro as a cure and a preventive.

Looking at the bass, it does look like your water is on the poor side due to the HITH.

Thank you for the response! As I said above, I already quarantined and have treated with salt and neomycin. Is that HITH? I also suspect water quality played a role. I had to put my tank at my dad's because my second floor apartment can't sustain the weight of a 220, and I frequently find dead feeders left floating in the tank when I come over to do the weekly water change. Since he's started acting oddly (past month or so) I've been over there every 2-3 days and have been sure to keep the water quality perfect, hoping he would recover. Obviously he didn't. Couple of questions though, is there anything I should do to specifically treat the HITH and secondly, I read that thiamanase and the resulting B deficiency is a possible cause of HITH, and considering my Pbass won't eat anything but live (and currently isn't eating period) what can I do to supplement his vitamins?

Clean water is key to keep HITH at bay. I wouldn't worry about your bass eating as of now. It looks fat enough now to starve for a couple of weeks. Quarantining your feeders for a a couple of weeks could and rid of most parasites if monitored right.
