So I put my 4 little pbass in the community tank last night with 12 black fin tetras, neon tetras, debra danios and 3 siamese algae eaters, and yes I know the eventual outcome. Ok, so I put in some mysis shrimp last night right after I got them and they nibbled a little. Today, nothing, no food eaten. Every once in a while I see one of them doing the yawn/burp thing and out comes a little white thing. One of the bass looks like you can see his intstine pushing through his side, kind of swollen more on the left than on the right. They are also schooling with the black fin tetras and whenever the tetras frewak and move to the other side, so do the bass. They are not eating krill, blood worms mysis shrimp or the little algae eaters in the tank. They chase them a little but thats it. Shaould they be devouering the blood worms or at least the algae eaters? The bass are about 1 and a half to 2 inches long and whats up with the weird intastine thing? Any ideas? Thanks.

If you just moved them, I'd suggest just giving it a little time. If they still don't eat, I'd try throwing in some appropriate sized feeders.

Ok, jsut put in 2 rosy reds. 2 of the pbass ate them but one of them couldnt get it down so he coughed it up but at least they are after them. Yaaaah. But that intestine thing still bugs.

What does the intestine thing looks like and is that one of the ones that ate? Do you have a pic of it? Sounds like they are just getting used to their new home. Hopefully everything works out with them. Feeders usually seem to get their feeding response going.

i would try small guppys instead of rosys. If the lump doesnt go away then i would be concerned, but i bet that it ate something and its just poking out a bit on one side. P-bass have very elastic stomachs and when mine were smaller i could see similar things. When they are that small they also usually wont eat anything but live food. I got mine to about 5" on first blackworms and then rosys, before I got them onto frozen prawn and cut shrimp.

I will try to get a pic of it. One of them ate a feeder and it doesnt look like that other one and I cant find black worms anywhere in Dallas area. I cut up small pieces of earth worms but that just scared them when I dropped it in the tank. Whenever the black fin tetras freak out and move to the other side of the tank, the pbass do the same. Safety factor I guess.
