i'd one day like to keep a cichla ocallaris with my Florida Gar, ornate bichir and LSN catfish. however, when i kept my gar with a LMB, the LMB bullied the gar by biting it tails off, not allowing him to go up for air and not letting him hunt. i have sold the LMB so the gar has fully recovered. i would like to know if this pbass and this gar will be OK together. So no gar getting beat on. i'm not really concerned about the LSN and ornate because I've seen them mixed before. thanks for any info. the gar is currently 10-12" and by the time i get a tank sizable for the two it will be around 16-20". i will grow out the peacock until he is around 8" then add the peacock with the rest.

im pretty much sure your LMB would have beat the hell out of your pbass as well. that happened to me. now i separated my pbass with my lmb. the only fish that can withstand the bullying of my LMBs are my jaguars :)

Pbass are nothing like a LMB when it comes to aggression to other fish. They only seem to mess with each other almost playfully, like a bunch of teen age boys asserting their dominance. I think your gar will be just fine with cichla, if it's not big enough to be a snack.

I had 2 florida gars with 5 peacock bass they did fine no aggression toward gars at all. I will tell you to watch at feeding to make shure the gars get enough cause pbass are massive eaters. Of course with less pbass you may not have that problem. Best of luck to you.

Yeah I feed top water pellets and smelt. I will monitor feeding and make sure rations are distributed evenly. My other question is will how big will ocellaris get. I've heard everything from 14" to 30".
