7-8" florida gar with 4.5" - 5" orino pbass what do you think? bad ending or not? LFS has one and it would save me ordering it.

My florida gar was at 10" and killed evrything that was in the tank with him. Anything he couldnt fit in his mouth he just disemboweled. He has been put in the pond by himself, wasnt risking my bass. But its probably just my gar ive heard of bass and gar being ok together so im sure its all about the individual. Good Luck.

I reckon it will work. A few of the members have that combo, what size is your tank?

well at the moment i have growouts set up, 75 is this one in particular. i have a 125 to put them into whenever they get bigger and i have the energy but i would really like to trade that and get bigger when i have the money. and if i am poor forever i will sell them haha. but lets be realistic. . . i am addicted to these fish so i will have to pull the money out of the tree in my back yard.

i have about a 9" florida spotted with my two peacocks, clown knife, 2 oscars, hi fin achara and 2 silver dollars and hes the most docile in my tank and doesnt mess with noone

I have one pbass with 3 gars, the problem that I have is getting food to the gars. The pbass is such a pig, and when he sees a gar going for some food he will rush up and get it before they can or if they get the food he will steal it from them. I would avoid the situation. After a couple of weeks, I figured out how to fix the situation, but the gars had to start accepting food that sank to the bottom of the tank, and then eat it there.

well you pbass guys say its good and the gar guys say no. i dont know what to think. but i really want a gar.

They say as rule its not good to put the two together. Because the bass will steal the food from the gar and gars don't like hyper tankmates and is streses them out. I know people have kept the two together fine and others have had to seperate them. So like i said its really up to the individual fish.

first off, gars usually dont work with cichlids because gars can sometimes become very skittish and run into things and break their backs.
this usually happens when,in this case pbass, the cichlids are feeding.
especially in the bass case...
pbass are very aggressive feeders and this could easily spooked the gar.
and when cichlids are chasing each other and showing aggression, gars usually dont react well.
there are of course many cases where it works.
but it doesnt mean the gar likes it.
you can try,it might work for quite a while.
but it can also end up in disaster.

this is coming from someone who has kept gar and pbass among other things.
