Was thinking of adding an unknown payara sp. to my 125 Cichla tank, I'm going to assume it's a scomb or tat. Anybody try this combo? The payara is about the same length of my pbass. Any ideas would be appreciated.
well the pbass will outgrow a scomb and scombs are hard to get on like and the fact that they die so unknownly at 10in ish and they generally wont be able to compete with cichla in a tank with multiple cichla, on the other hand tats may be a better choice but they still wont be able to compete i would think. armatus would but they could kill your cichla.
My scomb got beat up by my pbass when i added him in. He was not able to compete with the pbass. The pbass kept getting all the food and the scomb got none. So i wouldnt recommend it
scombs will be outgrown and eaten if they dont die of starvation first.
they very likely will be picked on til they die.
tats will be fine,if you can somehow get food to them.
the best is to have a GROUP of tats, not just one.
but tats grow SLOW as well.
I haven't seen it yet. From the way my brother talks, it must be a shy eater, I can't see feeders lasting in the tank very long with 6 hungry small Cichla... I guess I'd better avoid it until I can devote a tank just to it...
