So who here is into gaming rigs and building their own PCs? Ive gotten the itch
of building a modest, bang -for- the buck gaming rig lately and i just want to see if there are any MFK PC enthusiast.

Here is my list :

EVGA 780I SLI MOBO
2 x 8800GT
OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz
Vista 64 Bit

On a Antec 900 Case

Rosewill RX850-D-B ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91 850W Power Supply
Liteon DVDRW

Thoughts, recommendations ?

i recomend you send it to me for some testing :D

lol i got it under control worst case scenario i let my new RTGG turn it on.... sounds like a good set up... im a noob with all that stuff learning alot but have alot of hardcore computer nerd friends if i need something built so i dont push myself to learn too quickly....

Samsung's are good with drives now? I have been seeing them on other people's list. I like evga since i can use 1066 DDR2 RAM

Li - ill take pics when everything comes ,pre and post-build . Knowing that have a modding history, it probably wont take much to pull you back in. ;)

I've been out of the computer construction gig for a while, but personally I'd go for the Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor. Might not be quite glitzy processor you have there but it has a nice price tag and when you mix it with a mobo like the MSI K9N SLI Platinum (excellent overclocking features in the BIOS) you will have a formidable match for less coin.

I build comps and i can say that you will have a great machine that will run almost anything you want without a hiccup. the antec 900 is my most favorite case as well, great airflow.

Be sure to check that your 780 chipset has vista 64 bit drivers available. You should be ok.

I have one though about the rosewill power supply.. my advice would be to skip that brand all together and buy something a bit nicer. I have had rosewill power supplies before and any of them that were over 650 watts failed within 2 months.

Just my advice, but through experiance I have learned that they dont make great power supplies.

Your nice wolfdale cpu will not tolerate fluctuations and random voltage increases. So save yourself the hassle of a poor power supply early on.

Also dont forget to see if the motherboard is 20 pin or 20+4 pin on the main rail. A simple mistake (:

keep me posted with your rig! is this your first build?
