Have a 160g tank that I want to dedicate to a nice somewhat peaceful SA community centered around Geo. Red Heads.

6 Red Heads
12-15 Congo Tetras
12-15 Corys

And then I want to add another type of cichlid not sure if I want to go smaller and get something like Bolivan Rams or go larger with Severums/Uarus. Does anyone have experience keeping red heads with other types of cichlids? I'm not looking to keep any fry so eggs/fry being munched on isn't something that concerned with.

Red heads get territorial in a pair. And will usually split from the group and be aggressive towards them. I had red heads for 2 days before my festae killed them.... they were twice his size. I would add the rams. the Cory cats would scare me being with any larger cichlids llike severums.

My fish life is sparked up with Polys :)

Heck, I could have told you not to mix red heads and festae...I wish I could come up with some awesome super analogy but it's like putting geo's with festae.

Can't speak as to the sevs & geos, but sevs shouldn't bother tetras or cories - mine didn't anyway. I had honduran red points in with my sevs with no problems as well.

I don't know how big those Redheads ( I assume you're referring to a Veija Synspillum) are but in my personal experience as soon as those things get to be a little bigger they can get pretty nasty and just like buddy said above, very territorial. Not to mention they are like Convicts...they will breed with ANYTHING!!! I bought my GF a Redhead for an aquarium gift a couple years ago because it was really nice and colorful and I thought she'd like it...she liked it until about 10min after I let it out of the bag and then it got an attitude with everything in the tank. Tried to fight every fish in there including the big Dempsey and big Festae's...then in the course of a few months it bred (eggs didn't hatch) with one of the Texas' and with the Salvini and tried to breed with the female Festae. Then the Redhead and the Salvini became a fulltime couple and attacked anything that came near and were continually at war with the Dempsey, Jag and Texas' until she got sick of it being such a dick and got rid of it.
They are a very attractive fish but from my experience not a good mix in a peaceful tank set up but maybe that was just our fish?? That said my friend has a big Veija (Blackbelt) that owns his tank and bullies a breeding pair of Jags, 3 big GT's and 3 really big Oscars!!!

^ He's talking about Geophagus sp. Tapajos. His post states Geo Red Heads.

Severums and Uaru are both fine with geos. You could also do something less common like Krobia. Most of the more peaceful acara types will work.

Good pick Ryan. I've kept Krobia Xinguenses with Taps. wild Angelfish are cool a Chocolate would work too, some Fesivum is another option and so is Aquadens Metae. There are a bunch of choices. Sounds like it's going to be a nice set-up right up my ally. Post pics when you get it stocked.

I have been eyeballing Rapp's heros efasciatus 'Rio Tapajos' and finally pulled the trigger, getting one male of those and six of the geo. red head tapajos. Will finish off the tank with 15-20 tetras and corys - exact ones are whatever I can find on Aquabid in the numbers I'm looking for.

You will love the Rio Tapajos severum from Rapps. I got a nice male a few months ago and he is just so beautiful. I have him in with some orange head tapajos as well. My pic isn't the greatest but it shows his real nice colors.
