I have changed my mind about doing a large aggressive tank because of certain people on this forum:D, and now i want to do a 180g peaceful tank (could be larger, depends on what i find), the tank will have excellent filtration.
This is my stocking so far:
1 Chocolate Cichlid
1 Heros notatus
5 Geophagus red heads (3 F0 & F1)
1 Geophagus dicrozoster
1 Geophagus altrifron
1 rainbow cichlid
2 Cichlasoma dimerus
1 bristlenose pleco

i would like to add these if possible:
1 or 2 more Geophagus dicrozoster
3 undescribed geophagus that peathenster had:drool:

Would any of these work? + or - comments welcome.

I think that would work and sounds like a great tank. I agree with adding more dicros, and maybe more altifrons though then you're maybe going to want the bigger tank.

Looks good, but but instead of the dicro and altifrons, I'd go with a few more red heads. Geo's like company and a lot of people will tell you that 4 is the minimum for a single species. So the more the better. 8 or 9 red heads would be awesome. JMO. Why not make it a pair of Chocolates too. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. :D

Did you mean the Guianacara? They should play well with most of your fish but you have to grow them out a little. And add some caves.

I'm not sure about the C. dimerus. They like dense vegetation....can you do a smaller planted tank for them?

Chocolates may get nasty comes breeding time, so it's safer to stick to one.

It sounds good. I would eliminate the rainbow cichlid though. All of the fish are SA except for that one and it would bother the life out of me if it were my tank.

Never kept Chocolates, didn't know that about them.

I agree. Also, the multispinosa may be a small fish, but they can be absolute jerks too. I have one, and he is always picking fights with just about every fish I have in the tank with him. He great, but can be overly aggressive at times.

Yes those are what i want, i can do both. The C. dimerus could go in my girls 46g that is planted. i would like to try some bigger potted plants in the 180 but i know it probably won't work because of the severum. and i only want my one fatty chocolate.

Ya, but it is beautiful and i couldn't help but buy it. I will have to see how it goes, if it starts being to aggressive then i can move it or sell it.

TO clarify, when i said my stocking so far, i meant i already have it. I forgot to add a small school of rainbows too.

cheers for going peaceful. aggressive fish are sometimes over rated. (though there is nothing wrong with them)

Cant wait to see what you do and also see some PICS. :)

I agree that rainbows can be a little pushy but in my experience it's always been chasing/bluffing without any real substance behind it. Sort of similar to firemouths, except a bit more mellow...but if having a chaser bugs you you might end up getting annoyed with him.

Ok, i did a few changes, so how does this sound. I forgot about my cute little bahia.
1 Chocolate Cichlid
1 Heros notatus
5 Geophagus red heads (3 F0 & F1)
3 Geophagus dicrozoster
1 Geophagus altrifron
1 Geophagus bahia
3 Guianacara (I will have caves)
1 rainbow cichlid
1 bristlenose pleco
