i just got a new peacock bass 4" and he doesnt swim around he just sits by the filter and heater all day then i put feeders in and hell pick 3 or 4 of them off and go right back

If your water quality is good .

Its not weird , its pretty normal from my experience . It seems to take longer for a pbass to get used to the new environment at 4" than it does at 2-2.5" .... took a few days with the smaller 2-2.5 " bass Ive started with , but 2 weeks or more for the Pbass I started with at 4+" ... I think the longer a pbass is living in one environment .. the longer it takes for him to get used to another .. if that makes since?

not saying this is always the case , but that has been my experience which is pretty limited.

Id check my water , and just give him more time .

thats what i kinda figured but i wasnt sure because i stay on top of my tank like with the water quality and changes, etc. and he does eat feeder hes just not active

What he in the tank with?

I notice that too, with larger pbass (4"+) they seem to have a harder time adjusting to new surrounding unlike smaller pbass that seem to rebound very quickly. My brother had a couple of hybrid pbass that were around 4" mark and it acted very uncharacteristically compared to my small guys.

he is in there with two 4in oscars and one 21/2in firemouth and soon to be one more peacock bass there in my 55galloon right now im waiting on my 180 to be finsihed

make sure none of the other fish are beating up on or bullying him. Peacock bass don't exhibit the normal aggressive demeanor as other CA/SA cichlids normally. It's good you're getting more pbass as they tend to have a safety in numbers mentality and will normally be more outgoing.
