i recently got two 12” peacock bass from my lfs. 1 Orinoco and 1 Azul. The Orinoco is following the azul around and is nipping on him/her. Is this breeding behavior or just the Orinoco being a jerk?

can you post a video of this happening? sometimes bass do this as part of saying whos boss in a tank also.

Typical cichla behavior, establishing dominance or flaring doesn’t sound like breeding behavior you will need dithers in the tank to distribute aggression or you will have the less dominant one get pretty banged up.

What fish could I use as a dither? Some large tinfoil barbs?
