I have had two peacock bass for 6 and four years. I had put them in a 125 gallon tank a month ago and a week before i went to college performed at20% water change. I have never had problems with them jumping out in the new tank while they were in there for 3 weeks. I did put there light on a timer. but the thing is i have versa tops that cover almost the whole tank. these guys really must have missed me because after being at school for 2 weeks thye have both jumped out and died..... i am fairly upset because it took a long time to raise them and in my opinion the most interesting fish i have owned. My father was feeding them live goldfish and freeze dried krill. thye have been eating this for a long time. i do not understand why they tried so hard to jumpout of the tank. Can somone please help explain what happened. I want new peacock bass but i will not be home every day to feed them maybe every couple of weeks. also i get fish for wholesale because i work at a pet store and pick up orders. but i just recently bought a 12in florida gar and cannot purchase small pbass because they will get eaten. I was soexcited to see my tank this weekend but now my fish have passed and will not be able to to raise fry. Looking for cheap pbass in the chicagoland area at good sizes. please help me with a better understanding of why they jumped out. the gar never bothered them and there was plenty of food in the tank for everyone. infact the pbass bossed him around.
