I was checking my tank today after a filter malfunction and notice white worms that looked exactly like this " ~ " around the glass and red worms sticking out of two of my peacock bass' anus. I was told the first ones were harmless planaria (?) so I'm not worried about those but the latter is freaking me out. I'm pretty sure the red worms are callimanus worms and my question is how do I treat them? I was told to add garlic extract, but how do you actually go about doing this through soaking their food? Or is safe to add it directly into the aquarium water? What kind of medication that you can usually find at a lfs can be used to get rid of them or atleast help the fish recover? Will praziquantel help? What are chances of the fishes recovering? Any information would be grateful.

Tank Stock list:
4x 5inch peacock bass ( one just died a few hours ago)
1x 4inch oscar
1x 3 inch tiger shovelnose
3x 5inch indo datnoid
1x 6.5 inch ansorgii bichir

Treat it with a 2ppm+ concentration of levamisole hydrochloride, a common pig and poultry wormer. You are unlikely to find a levamisole based medication at your LFS, but you should easily be able to find some in an online pet or livestock supply store.
Get a decent amount, tablet form might be better value.

This is probably the best resource I've come across for using levamisole to treat camalanus. http://www.loaches.com/disease-treatment/levamisole-hydrochloride-1/
I've treated fish for camalanus worms with levamisole several times and had very good results.

Thanks I'm checking the stores in my area tomorrow for some. Any ideas on the garlic extract part?

I tried garlic myself and I can't say I observed it to do anything at all. I think at best it may irritate parasites. Maybe garlic administered in the right dose in the right way could be an effective treatment, but that's unknown and unproven. Stick with what works and track down some levamisole. If you can't find any try for flubendazole or fenbendazole which should also work.
