PEACOCK BASS IN A POND?

i live in socal and was wondering what ppls opinions on it are my pond is 400 gal but its above ground i know temp issues are there my water as of latly is at 84 ish during the day i havnt done night temps but ill get them for tonight i was think a larger fish might be ok but lmk what u all think plz no unnecessary remarks about this post plz and tyt =)
 
Sure but for winter ect make sure you have heaters. You can do solar power heaters, pool heaters, or in your case a 800watt heater should do it but more watts u put in the better. IMO pool heaters are the way to go. I once had a bala shark pond outdoors like yours at my grand mas house. It was soooo neat.
 
I think the main reason you don't see too many tropical ponds in non-tropical areas is that they are expensive to run. I think you would need a lot more than 800 watts to maintain temperatures high enough for keeping peacocks. This calculator suggests over 1,700 watts: http://www.heatingyourpond.com/submersible-heaters.html. As long as you are good with the expense involved, that would be awesome, but don't be surprised to see a huge jump in your utility bill (I'd guess somewhere around $200/month just to heat it in the winter). You can run lower wattage, but then it'll be on constantly and heaters aren't meant to operate like that. They should cycle on and off, otherwise they will bite the dust pretty quickly.
