Hi guys,

My peacock bass, which I believe is a female ocellaris, has had a white bump on top of the middle of her lower lip. It was always just a white bump, treated for cotton mouth and it did nothing. Thought maybe it was an abrasion from eating feeders and that hed just live with it. About 2 weeks ago I noticed the white bump started growing out a red cylinder type growth. Really red, hasn't gotten overly big but its effecting how she closes her mouth. Doesn't seem to be growing too much but never know. Treated with mealfix and pimafix and no help. Any ideas? Kinda worried, she's still growing fast.

I have a similar situation with one of my cichlids. It is also the fish that keeps rubbing its face all over the glass like its trying to swim through it. Probably rubbing it raw repeatedly. Not sure what to do to correct it though.

My pb also had that but now he seems to be almost blind he didn't want to eat and he keeps running into everything anyone know what is the matter? I was going to isolate and treat him with some antifugal medicine?

Did you check the water parameters and temperature?

My parameters are fine, temp is fine, she's not running into things or rubbing on her glass, plus this is on the inside of her lip. Otherwise she's in great condition, don't want it to affect her growth tho as she has trouble closing her mouth.

Had similar white bump on lower lip of my pbass too, just under 6 inches and unfortunatly hes still on live food - havnt been able to accept pellets yet. Anyways I added a bit of aquarium salt and did a 50% water change and it cleared up good, still a little something there, but looks like its improving everyday. Try adding salt and do a good waterchange.

Huh... maybe some type of bacterial infection? Iv been lucky and havnt really had a problem that couldnt be fixed with basic meds. Im sure someone will see this and give you some advice. Good luck man.

Just noticed your from london on. I grew up there down the street from whiteoaks mall, if you know where that is, londons a big city. Paranormal capital of canada lol
