hi im new to having peacock bass and i was wondering what you guys would recomend for having in the tank for plants and decortaions for the bass. also i was wondering if i can keep my 2inch peacock bass and my 1.7inch peacock bass with my oscar and managuense (Jaguar) together in the same tank or should i remove 1?

At that size p bass are really sensetive and get ich easily i would advise against putting that small a p bass in with bruisers such as oscars and jags as far as decor wood and plants for hides would be great

as for what to add in the tank.. lots of bog wood.. no need for plants... they will just up root them. i have had 3 inch cichla with oscars of the same size.. i never had any problems, they are like doofy puppies. only bad thing about an oscar is they fool up your water. i never owned a jag but i know they can be nasty fish.. so that may not be such a great id.. grow your cichla out first if you can

p.s welcome to the site.. if you have any questions you can PM me when ever bradda

i wouldnt recomend having the jag in there.
they wont feel comfortable at all..
young pbass are pretty sensetive to water conditions.

atm my oscar, peacock and jaguar are in the tank together all gettin alone fine, they all stay on there own sides and instead of puttin the smaller peacock in atm i have him in my other tank till he gets a little bigger, but im having a hard time feeding him because he doesn't seem to want anything. I tried planton, krill, guppies.pellets and tuffies and he is just ignoring them. Is this normal for peacock bass to not eat the first couple days you get them, because i got this one 2 days ago and he hasnt ate while i had my other one for about 3 weeks and he ate right away.

also forgot to ask this but does any1 know how big of a tank a jaguar needs? because rather than given him back to the pet store if he causes problems i was wondering if keeping him in my 55 gallon tank would be good? because im going to buy a 240 gallon soon for the peacocks when they get a little bigger.

It's sometimes normal for them not to eat for a day or so after being moved. Guppies should make them go wild though. I would take the water params and make sure you're good if it's been a few days.

yea kinda odd that your peacock bass isnt going insane for the guppies, because when i just got mine in they started going after the white clouds i had in the tank the second they ploped into the tank. I would check your water params. what size thank do you have him in?

^^^^^ hahah no offense but look its a Li junior (neoprodigy) ^^^^

anyways.. the only thing at that size that you should be trying to feed them are live black worms and guppies.. it is normal for them to not eat the first couple of days.. only thing is check him for iche and gasping... make sure your water temp is at least at 87 degrees.. if not your going to have a hard time keeping them alive. also water quality and tankmate temperment plays a very important role in the health of baby cichla.
