hello recently i took a likeing to peacock bass an di have notice some for sale on this site but i have a question why are some more colorfull then others i'm looking for the real colorfull ones and need to know what ones to buy thanks

There are more than one species of Peacock bass in the world some more colorful than others. The Species I know currently are

The Amazonian P Bass (Cichla Monoculus)

Butterfly P Bass (Cichla ocellaris) one of my personal favorites

Orinoco P Bass (Cichla orinocensis)

Speckled P Bass (Cichla Temensis)

These are all Cichla sp.

The Rio Jau

The Venezuela

The Xingu

A lot of the vendors on this site are very great and impressive with their customer service just find one that specializes in the fish your looking for though many of them are preatty good with variety some are more likely to have some at your convenients. But color can also depend on the type of foods the water quality, stress, species, ect.

Hope this helps ~ Red tail catking ;)

Time ;) As with many American cichlids... It takes time for color to show ;) Cichla rarely have specimens that do not atain some excellent color.. Though there are a few. Andf it also depends on your Color preference...

But still If you get a one under 10" keep it till it is at least 16-18" You will most likely see Allot of color come out by this time ;)

my 8" mono is awesome i just took a liking to pbass about 2 months ago and decided the mono's looked the best. 2 small ones at 1.5" have one due to hopping out and my dog brought it to me in the living room. here's mine with a crappy phone pic. and one in my avatar too.
