Peacock bass silent killer?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had the same thing happen to my tems and a couple of other bass....Gill flukes....One night they were eating and fine and the next morning swimming at the surface gasping and dead. Water was alright and the rest of my fish was fine but treated the whole tank anyway to make sure my other fish didnt catch them. The ones that died i didnt treat for parasites when i got them so thats why im assuming my other fish were still fine.

man im so sorry for your loss.. but im stumped on this one.. i dont know what couldve killed them.

How big were they? I to notice that i lost two from a unknown factor. I have read some where, that small bass needs to eat a lot at a small age, due to the fact that they have a high metabolism.

Gill flukes? I'm not sure how they may have aquired it, but i will definitly treat the main tank incase it transfered to other fish. What treatment did you use? Thanks!

They bass were largish, one was a farm mono about 13", second was a wild occelaris about 9-10", alast was a wild spangled Occelaris about 10-11"

I have noticed that problems smack the pbass quite quickly. I'd have to agree with the gill fluke diagnosis, but only from stories I have heard. Sorry for your loss, and good luck with the others. Keep us posted.
