Does anybody know if I can put a peacock bass with my alligator gar?? I hear they suck on the gars so don't do it.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

I dont think they would suck on the gars but you may have an issue with the gar growing much faster than the bass and trying to eat it

I have kept these two together but size does matter... The cichla will not "suck on the gar"... You may be confused with a pleco.. But I will say this, if the gar feels that cichla can or even may fit in it's mouth...It will try..

^ yeah plecos will do that to fish with a slime coat on them but the only thing is the gar could maybe eat thet bass if its small but the bass is also a fast eater and might out run the gar in speed and maybe take the gars food. but you never knoe till you try!

Should be ok till the gar decides he wants to eat the bass. Once the gar is big enough, he will more than likely try.

bad combo, I would not recommend.

exactly. horrible combination.

i heard that not only do the pbass suck on the gars, they fashion tiny hatchets and pick off the gars' scales to use as body armor and tiny fish arrowheads...

there are a ton of threads about this stuff and the general consensus and the best practice here is that pbass and gator gars should not be kept together--

x2 to both.

Also, YouTube and much of MFK are not viable sources for determining what fishes are appropriate tankmates for gars.

as long as they cant fit in each others mouth then you should be fine. BTW peacock bass dont suck your thinking of a pleco a completely different fish
